The Surveying & MARiTime Internet Of ThingS EducAtion (SMARTSEA) Project Aims To Develop An Advanced Interactive Certified MSc Course Related To Maritime & Surveyor IoT Applications That Will Train Individuals With The Necessary Skills & Knowledge To Work In The Rising “Smart Maritime & Surveying” Industry.
Target Audience
The Course Will Be Open For Participation For Anyone With A Basic Maritime, Electronic, Electrical, Computer Or Mechanical Technical Background, Such As University Students That Have Completed A Suitable Bachelor’s Degree Or Professionals With Equivalent Or Higher (5 Years Minimum) Working Experience.

Consortium
For this project, six academic institutions, two SMEs, one research center and three shipping/environmental surveying and shipping companies, residing in Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Romania and Slovenia joined to create an MSc on Smart Maritime & Surveying Systems.
Project Output
Smartsea is developing an innovative curriculum, which is comprised by interactive teaching methods & partnerships with expert academic & maritime organisations, to provide the students with a solid background for starting a fruitful career in the industry. The course duration is 8 months, plus a 1-month maritime (on the job) experience. In addition, during 2 mobility periods, students & educators from one university will travel to the other and vice-versa to participate in the large-scale laboratories, whereas a 3rd period is reserved for the maritime on-the-job training.
