The Remote Educator focuses on planning, delivering and assessing education in virtual environments.

The profile covers different approaches to remote education, virtual teaching and blended learning, digital tools for content creation and communication, learning management systems, interpersonal challenges in remote education and digital assessment.

The official competence profile covers five modules: Introduction to Remote Education, Remote Education Planning, Digital Skills and Tools for Remote Education, Interpersonal Skills for Remote Education and Assessment in Remote Education.

Remote Manager

The Remote Manager focuses on successfully organising, coordinating and supporting teams and workplaces in remote environments.

The profile covers the organisation and optimisation of remote processes, digital management tools, interpersonal and intercultural communication, employee well-being and sustainable remote working practices.

Remote Worker

The Remote Worker focuses on the skills required to communicate, collaborate and work productively in a professional remote environment.

The profile covers communication with managers, co-workers and customers, collaborative development of digital products, digital document management, time management, information management, content creation, AI and licensing.

The official competence profile covers three modules: Remote Communication, Collaborative Development of Digital Products and Digital Productivity.

What to Expect from the Certification

The VirtualEdu certification combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. All three profiles include an online multiple-choice examination as well as a practical exercise related to the selected professional profile.

1. Meet the Entry Requirements

Candidates can qualify for admission by completing the respective learning material in the MOOC environment and receiving a certificate of completion or attendance.


Alternatively, appropriate professional experience gained outside the course environment can be used to meet the admission requirement.

2. Prepare for Your Profile

Develop the knowledge and skills required for your selected profile – Remote Educator, Remote Manager or Remote Worker – across its respective competence areas.

3. Take the Online Exam

Complete the online multiple-choice examination for your selected professional profile.

The examination is open book and covers the modules included in the respective certification profile. The number of questions varies depending on the selected profile.

4. Complete the Practical Task

Apply your acquired knowledge and skills through a practical exercise related to your selected profile.

The practical exercise is graded and assessed during the online learning phase according to predefined evaluation criteria.

5. Become ECQA Certified

Successfully complete the required theoretical examination and practical assessment to receive the ECQA certificate for your selected professional profile.

Online Exam
The theoretical assessment is conducted online as a multiple-choice examination.

 

Open Book
The examination is open book, allowing candidates to use relevant learning materials during the assessment.

 

Profile-Specific Questions
The number of questions depends on the selected certification profile:

Remote Educator: 50 questions
Remote Manager: 45 questions
Remote Worker: 35 questions

Each examination draws from a question pool of more than 150 questions.

 

90 Minutes
The maximum duration of the online examination is 90 minutes for each of the three certification profiles.

 

50% Passing Score
At least 50% of the total score must be achieved in each module. All modules must be successfully passed to complete the overall examination. 

 

Practical Assessment
Each certification includes a practical exercise. The practical task is assessed according to predefined evaluation criteria and forms part of the certification assessment. 

 

Certificate Validity
The ECQA certificate is valid for 5 years.
